The Superior Court has jurisdiction in civil actions of over $25,000 and handles both criminal and civil actions. It also has original jurisdiction in actions including labor disputes, authority to convene medical malpractice tribunals, has appellate jurisdiction over certain administrative proceedings, and may hold sittings for naturalization in any city or town. Additionally, the Court has exclusive original jurisdiction of first-degree murder cases and original jurisdiction of all other crimes.
As your next Clerk of Courts, Joanne will use her experience in managing multi-million dollar budgets and managing an office to ensure our courts are run as efficiently as possible.
